On unofficial there is no level cap. So go nuts. I've got level 900 tames on some of my servers. I think stats roll back to 0 or some shit if you crank too many points into one though. I forget what the exact number is. 1.

As for your dino level, most official servers will simple delete any dino that hits level 450, either through breeding or through leveling. This is why you might profit from breeding in a low oxygen or movement stat for example. (Note that this level is 500 for X and R creatures for some unknown reason.) Hope it helped. If you have it like me, at 15, max lvl will be 450. As it takes the number times 30.
