I've read most people say that the combos for jobs help alleviate some of the stress later in the game. If you're *really* worried about job combos, just try to put Knight and Shikari with a robe-job (Black, White, Red, Bushi), to get the boosting robes for Excalibur and Darkblade. Everything else is very small min-max'ing, apart from that.
