Whoops- it's TITEWAD. As the title indicates, I boneheaded a Titegroup purchase and ended up with Titewad. Weelll, as it turns out, there is no pistol data available from Hogdon for this powder, so I will be investigating this blind. Now, before I use this as expensive fertilizer or turn a fine gun into parts, it behooves me to do some research.Titewad excels at 1 oz. It can do 1 1/8, too, but is too fast for 1 1/8 Handicap. Titegroup, on the other hand, excels at 1 1/8 Handicap. It is reputed to be the canister grade powder which most faithfully duplicates Remington's Nitro-27 load. I've never tried it with 1 oz, because it would probably necessitate a 7/8 wad.The 1250 fps speed with 7/8oz is not the same recoil energy as with 1 1/8 as you know. I would slowly lower the charge from the listed recipe and monitor the adverse effects of a light load, not just the fps. I have a very light Cimarron 1889 where even a Remm STS is too much.

The powder reaches the max pressure before reaching rifle velocities, this was to minimize gas pressures.
